DELL Kensington N17 Combination Lock
The Kensington N17 Combination Lock is a keyless security cable for laptops and tablets with a wedge-shaped security slot, using expanding side hooks inside the slot to create a firm mechanical grip on the device's frame. Its combination mechanism is a resettable 4-wheel dial offering 10,000 possible codes, which the owner can change at any time rather than relying on a physical key that can be lost or duplicated. The cable is carbon steel, roughly 6 feet (1.8m) long, for cut- and theft-resistance, and an updated slider on this generation of the N17 allows one-handed engagement when locking the device to a desk or other fixed point. Like Kensington's other laptop locks, it's designed to deter casual, opportunistic theft of an unattended device in a shared office, classroom or workspace setting, rather than to provide safe-grade security against a determined attacker with tools.
