The Amphenol AC5F is a 5-pole female XLR cable connector from Amphenol's AC series, used to build and repair 5-pin cables. The most common use for 5-pin XLR in South African venues and hire companies is DMX512 lighting control, where the standard specifies a 5-pin connector, but it also appears on stereo microphones, some intercom headsets and control lines. The connector has a diecast zinc alloy housing with a nickel finish and machined contacts with silver plating for solder termination, taking wire up to 18 AWG. The AC series clamp gives a typical cable retention force of about 22 to 44 kg depending on the cable, and cable outer diameters from 3 to 6.5 mm are accepted (6.5 to 8 mm with the large-solder option). Amphenol rates it at 7.5 A per contact, 133 V RMS service voltage, IP40, UL94 V-0 and 1,000 mating cycles, and lists it as comparable to the Neutrik NC5FX.
