The Amphenol AX5F is a 5-pole female XLR cable connector from Amphenol's AX series, the lighter-duty sibling of the AC series with stamped rather than machined contacts. It is used to make up 5-pin cables, most often DMX512 lighting control leads, but also stereo microphone, intercom and control cables. The housing is diecast zinc alloy with a nickel finish, the contacts are silver plated for solder termination and take wire up to 18 AWG, and the cable clamp accepts a wide cable outer diameter range of 3 to 8 mm, with a typical retention force of about 22 to 44 kg depending on the cable. Amphenol rates it at 7.5 A per contact, 133 V RMS service voltage, 1400 V test voltage, IP40, UL94 V-0 and 1,000 mating cycles, and lists the Neutrik NC5FXX as its comparable part.
