The Amphenol AX3M is a 3-pole male XLR cable connector from Amphenol's AX series, a slimmer, more modern design than the classic AC series with a long rubberised boot and a chuck-type cable clamp. It is used for microphone, line-level and 3-pin DMX leads, and is a popular choice for hire companies and installers who want a durable, easy-to-assemble connector that is comfortable to handle. The shell is zinc diecast with a nickel finish, and the machined, silver-plated contacts are soldered and accept wire up to 14 AWG. Amphenol rates it at 15 A per contact, 133 V RMS service voltage (1,400 V AC test), IP40, UL94 V-0, -25 to +75 °C and 1,000 mating cycles, and lists it as comparable to the Neutrik NC3MXX.
