Avast Gaffer Tape in matte White is a 48mm wide, 25m long cloth gaffer tape made for stage, film, broadcast and events work. Gaffer tape differs from ordinary duct tape in two ways that matter on a production: its rubber-based adhesive holds firmly but is designed to lift off floors, staging, flight cases and cable jackets cleanly, without leaving the sticky residue that duct tape does, and its matte cloth backing does not throw glare back under stage lights or into a camera lens. The cloth construction tears by hand, so crew can work quickly without scissors or a knife. Typical uses are taping down cable runs across floors and stages, bundling cables, marking positions, securing props and set pieces, and temporary fixing in photography studios and theatres. White is the usual choice for marking spike positions and labelling cases and cables, since it is easy to write on and stands out on dark floors. The same tape is also sold in black. Avast is a tape brand widely carried by South African AV and events suppliers.
