Comparable Garmin EmpirBus DCMs support programmable electronic fuse sizing per channel, soft start/stop for motor loads, undercurrent/short-circuit detection, and dimming for LED lighting circuits, communicating with the rest of the boat's electronics over NMEA 2000 so switching and diagnostics are visible on any networked Garmin display. DCMs are typically installed in multiples on larger vessels to distribute circuits around the boat and reduce cable runs back to a central panel, and are IP-rated for a marine electrical-compartment environment.
