The Garmin Descent G1 is a combined dive computer and everyday smartwatch, positioned as the more affordable entry point into Garmin's dive-computer range below the Mk2s/Mk3s series, aimed at recreational and technical divers who also want a full sports/wellness watch above water. It supports multiple dive modes (single and multi-gas, gauge, apnea, apnea hunt, and closed-circuit rebreather) with a 100m/330ft depth rating, leak-proof inductive buttons, and a sapphire lens, and can log up to 200 dives. Above the surface it runs 30+ built-in sport apps (running, cycling, swimming, hiking, golf, yoga, surfing and more), tracks sleep with a sleep score, and delivers smartphone notifications over Bluetooth, plus GPS/GLONASS/Galileo positioning for marking surface entry/exit points. The 45.5mm case (15.2mm thick, 61g) uses a fibre-reinforced polymer bezel and lining with a 0.9" (176 x 176 px) monochrome transflective MIP display that stays legible underwater and in bright sun. This non-solar Powder Grey model runs up to 25 hours in dive mode and, in everyday smartwatch use, roughly 21 days on a charge (up to 48 days with battery-saving settings) — divers who want longer battery life via solar charging should look at the Descent G1 Solar instead.
