The Zebra DS3608 is a rugged, corded handheld barcode scanner built as an area imager, meaning it captures an image of the whole barcode area at once rather than sweeping a laser line across it — this lets it read damaged, poor-quality or unusually-oriented codes more reliably, and critically supports Direct Part Marking (DPM), reading codes etched, engraved or laser-marked directly onto metal, plastic or other parts rather than printed on a label. This makes it suited to manufacturing and industrial environments (reading part-marked components on a production line) rather than typical retail/warehouse label scanning. It's finished in Industrial Green (Zebra's rugged-line colour scheme) and includes a vibration motor for scan-confirmation feedback, being a corded rather than wireless/Bluetooth model.
