The ETOE Starfish is a compact smart projector shaped like a bedside lamp, aimed at bedrooms, student digs and small lounges where you want a big picture without a TV taking up the wall. It is Google TV and Netflix certified, so Netflix, Showmax, DStv Stream, Disney+ and other apps run directly on the projector, and built-in Chromecast lets you cast from a phone over dual-band Wi-Fi. It projects a native Full HD 1920 x 1080 image at 300 ANSI lumens with a 3000:1 contrast ratio, from roughly 40 to 150 inches at 1 to 3.1 metres, so it works best in a dim or dark room. The head rotates through about 140 degrees, letting you throw the picture onto a wall or straight up onto the ceiling, and auto focus plus automatic vertical and 4-point keystone correction keep the image square. A 5W speaker, quiet 24.5dB operation and a colour-changing night light round it off. HDMI, USB and an audio output are on board, and Esquire lists a 1-year warranty.
