Garmin GPSMAP 1523xsv, Worldwide

The Garmin GPSMAP 1523xsv is a 15-inch chartplotter/sonar combo built around Garmin's distinctive ultrawide IPS display format (1920 x 720) rather than the standard-aspect screens used elsewhere in the GPSMAP range — Garmin markets this as roughly 74% wider than a standard 9-inch chartplotter of similar height, giving room to run split-screen chart, sonar, radar and camera panels side by side without cramming any one of them. This unit ships with a worldwide basemap preloaded, and physically measures about 15.3 x 7.02 x 3.3 inches and weighs 7.2 lbs.
Sonar is fully built into the display: a dual-channel traditional CHIRP engine (70/83/200 kHz, L/M/H presets) is paired with CHIRP ClearVü (260/455/800 kHz) and SideVü scanning sonar over a standard 12-pin transducer connector, and the unit is ready for Garmin's Panoptix and LiveScope live-scanning sonar for real-time forward and down imaging (transducers sold separately). A one-year Garmin Navionics+ subscription with daily downloadable chart updates is preloaded on the worldwide basemap. The 1523xsv carries an IPX7 water-resistance rating for open helm mounting, offers dual microSD card slots for chart and user-data storage, and integrates autopilots, radar, cameras and multimedia systems through OneHelm digital switching alongside standard NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 networking.
