Garmin GPSMAP 1623, Worldwide

The Garmin GPSMAP 1623 is the non-sonar sibling of the 1623xsv above: a 16-inch chartplotter from Garmin's mid-range, recessed-mount 1000-series x3 lineup, with the worldwide basemap preloaded but no built-in fishfinding sonar - intended for boats using a separate sonar source, or with no need for one at all. Like the rest of the x3 line it networks over NMEA 2000 with other compatible Garmin marine electronics on the same boat.
It carries the same 16-inch HD IPS touchscreen and recessed-mount form factor as the sonar-equipped 1623xsv, and the same core navigation software and usability found across Garmin's chartplotter lineup, in a more compact and typically more affordable package than the larger 8000/9000-series glass-bridge units. A straightforward, dedicated chartplotter well suited to boats where flush recessed mounting fits the helm layout better than a glass-bridge installation, or where sonar isn't a requirement for this particular display. Dropping the built-in sonar hardware also brings the price down relative to the 1623xsv, making this the more budget-conscious choice for anyone building a multi-display networked helm where sonar duty is already covered by another unit on the network. As with the sonar-equipped variant, its recessed-mount design suits replacing an existing pre-cut helm opening from an earlier generation of Garmin chartplotter.
