Garmin GPSMAP 8416

The Garmin GPSMAP 8416 is a 16-inch chartplotter from Garmin's 8000-series glass-helm lineup - the non-sonar sibling of the 8416xsv, giving the same full-HD IPS touchscreen navigation experience without built-in fishfinding hardware, for boats where sonar is handled by a separate black-box module or isn't needed at all. Removing the built-in sonar hardware typically brings the purchase price down relative to the xsv variant, an appealing trade-off for a boat that either already has sonar covered elsewhere on its network or genuinely doesn't fish.
It carries the same core navigation capability as the rest of the 8000 series: a wide-viewing-angle, sunlight-readable full-HD IPS touchscreen, and network compatibility over NMEA 2000 and the Garmin Marine Network so it can share radar overlay, supplemental charts, and waypoint/route/track data with other Garmin chartplotters on the same boat. It can be flat-mounted edge-to-edge with other 8000-series units to build a glass-helm look, or flush-mounted on its own - a straightforward, dedicated chartplotter for boats that already have (or don't need) a separate sonar source. This non-sonar configuration is also the typical choice for a secondary display at a second helm station (a flybridge or lower helm, for instance), where full chart and navigation data is wanted but sonar viewing is already covered by the boat's primary xsv-equipped display elsewhere on the network.
