Garmin GPSMAP 8422

Garmin GPSMAP 8422

The Garmin GPSMAP 8422 is a 22-inch chartplotter from Garmin's established 8000-series glass-helm lineup, the generation preceding the current 9000 series. It's a pure chartplotter with no built-in sonar, running on a full-HD touchscreen display and Garmin's GPS 24xd multi-band GNSS position receiver for precise, fast-updating position and heading data.

More Info

A fast, responsive 10Hz GPS refresh keeps the vessel icon tracking smoothly on screen rather than jumping between position fixes, and the unit supports up to 5,000 saved waypoints for repeat navigation to favourite fishing spots, marina approaches, or waypoints along a regular route. Like other units in the GPSMAP 8000 series, it's built to share data with other compatible Garmin chartplotters over a network connection - radar overlay, supplemental charts, and user data such as waypoints, routes, and tracks entered on one unit automatically sync to every other networked unit, which matters for boats running multiple displays at different helm stations. Its 22-inch full-HD IPS touchscreen offers wide viewing angles and strong sunlight readability, including through polarized sunglasses - a genuine practical need on an open helm rather than a spec-sheet-only feature. One-touch setting access lets an operator jump directly between pre-configured docking, cruising, fishing, and anchoring display layouts rather than manually reconfiguring the screen each time the boat's activity changes.
