Garmin GPSMAP® 8612xsv (US SKU)

Garmin GPSMAP® 8612xsv (US SKU)

The Garmin GPSMAP 8612xsv is a 12-inch chartplotter/sonar combo from Garmin's GPSMAP 8600 series — the updated, faster-processing generation of Garmin's blackbox-style large-format displays, released as a follow-on to the original GPSMAP 8400 series. It's built around a Full HD IPS multi-touch display (1920 x 1080) chosen for wide viewing angles and clarity in direct sun or with polarized sunglasses. This is the US SKU variant, meaning its preloaded charts and regional settings are configured for the US/Canada market rather than a worldwide basemap.

More Info

Sonar is fully built in on the 8612xsv, with a dual-channel 1 kW traditional CHIRP engine plus CHIRP ClearVü and SideVü scanning sonar and support for Ultra High-Definition scanning — no separate black box is required to run these. It's also LiveScope-ready for Garmin's full live-scanning sonar range (transducers sold separately) and includes an internal 10 Hz GPS/GLONASS receiver for fast position updates. A useful feature for larger center-console and offshore boats is Mercury SmartCraft Connect gateway support, letting the display monitor up to four Mercury engines' real-time data (RPM, fuel flow and more) on-screen. It connects to the ActiveCaptain app over built-in Wi-Fi for wireless chart and software updates, offers dual microSD card slots for chart/data storage, and networks over NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 for autopilot, radar, camera and instrument integration.
