The 8700 Black Box provides full support for Garmin's black box sonar ecosystem — the GSD 26 CHIRP Professional Sonar Module, and the complete Panoptix and Panoptix LiveScope all-seeing sonar line (transducers sold separately for all of these) — plus built-in sharing of Ultra High-Definition ClearVü and SideVü sonar data across the network, so multiple stations can view the same sonar feed. It pairs with an external GPS 19x 10 Hz GPS/GLONASS antenna (sold separately) for position and heading updates ten times per second, and connects the rest of the boat's electronics — autopilot, radar, cameras, instruments and engine data — over NMEA 2000 and the Garmin Marine Network. Because there's no screen or transducer in the box, expect the package to contain the black box unit itself, mounting hardware, network cabling and documentation, with a display, GPS antenna and any sonar transducers purchased and wired in separately as part of a full system build.
