Garmin GPSMAP 923, Worldwide

The Garmin GPSMAP 923 is a 9" marine chartplotter fitted with Garmin's Worldwide basemap rather than a region-specific chart package, giving global coastline coverage out of the box for boaters who cruise across multiple regions or simply want a baseline map everywhere before adding a detailed regional chart card. It shares its 9" high-resolution IPX7-rated touchscreen and processing platform with the rest of Garmin's current GPSMAP 9-series.
Its 10Hz internal GPS receiver supports GPS, GLONASS and Galileo for fast, accurate satellite positioning, and it accepts two microSD cards for storage of up to 5,000 waypoints, 50,000 track points, 50 saved tracks and 100 navigation routes. NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 support cover integration with a boat's existing instruments, and built-in Wi-Fi connects to the free ActiveCaptain app for chart updates, smart notifications and software updates. Garmin's SailAssist features - laylines, race start line guidance, an enhanced wind rose and tide/current data - are built in as standard, useful for cruising sailors as well as racers. As a Worldwide-basemap unit, this is the right choice for an owner who wants a genuinely global starting map rather than one pre-loaded for a specific coastline. Garmin also offers regional BlueChart/LakeVu chart card upgrades for this unit later on, if more detailed local coverage is wanted beyond the worldwide basemap.
