The HP Business Slim v2 Smart Card USB Keyboard (HP part A71J9AA) is a full-size wired keyboard with a built-in smart card reader, intended for government, banking, healthcare and corporate environments where users log in or sign documents with a smart card or ID badge instead of, or as well as, a password. Building the reader into the keyboard removes the need for a separate USB card reader on the desk and keeps the card slot within easy reach. The slim, low-profile design includes a numeric keypad and a Copilot key for Windows 11, and HP rates the keys for 10 million keystrokes. It connects to a USB-A port with a 1.8 m cable and draws its power from USB, so there are no batteries to manage. HP lists support for Windows 10 and 11. The keyboard measures 440.6 x 144.5 x 19.8 mm and weighs about 600 g, in black, with no backlight and no palm rest. It is a practical standard issue keyboard for fleets of HP business desktops where smart card authentication is policy.
