The HP Desktop Mini DVD-Writer ODD Expansion Module (HP part K9Q83AA) adds a DVD writer to HP's ultra-compact Desktop Mini PCs, which have no internal optical drive bay. It is an external module finished in black that matches the Desktop Mini chassis and connects over USB 3.0, and is designed to sit with the mini PC as part of its modular accessory family. HP lists compatibility with the HP 260 G1 and G2 DM, ProDesk 400 G1, G2 and G3 DM, ProDesk 600 G2 and G3 Desktop Mini, EliteDesk 705 G2 and G3 Desktop Mini, EliteDesk 800 G2 and G3 (35 W and 65 W) Desktop Mini, and HP Collaboration PC and Collaboration PC G2. The drive is a DVD Super Multi DL writer: it writes CDs at 24x, DVD±R and DVD±RW at 8x, dual-layer DVD±R at 6x and DVD-RAM at 5x, and reads CDs at 24x and DVD-ROM at 8x. It suits offices that still install software, archive records or read discs from clients on small-form-factor PCs. The module measures about 177 x 174.6 x 22.8 mm and weighs 712 g. HP backs options with a one-year parts warranty, or the remaining warranty of the host PC.
