The HP Smart Tank 581 (4A8D4A) is a wireless colour ink-tank all-in-one for print, copy and scan in homes and small offices. It is the same engine as the Smart Tank 580 in a darker medium-basalt finish. Its refillable tanks yield up to 6,000 pages of black or colour from the bottles, which cuts cost per page sharply compared with cartridges. It prints up to 12 ppm black and 5 ppm colour (ISO), up to 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi black and 4800 x 1200 optimised dpi colour, and scans at up to 1200 dpi on a flatbed CIS scanner. Connections are Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n with self-healing Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and USB 2.0, with Apple AirPrint, Mopria and the HP app for mobile printing. The input tray takes 100 sheets, the duty cycle is up to 3,000 pages a month, and duplex is manual. It measures 435 x 362 x 157 mm and weighs 5.03 kg. The box has one GT53XL black and GT52 C/M/Y bottles plus both printheads.
