The Hyperkin GN6 Premium USB Controller is a modern USB remake of the original Sega Genesis 6-button controller, aimed squarely at retro gaming on a PC or Mac rather than at a general-purpose PC gamepad. It carries an authentic design modelled directly after the original Genesis pad's shape and button layout: an eight-way directional pad and six responsive digital buttons, matching the exact input scheme classic Genesis platformers and fighting games were designed around, rather than approximating it with a modern analog-stick controller. It connects with plug-and-play USB wired connectivity, and Hyperkin's own product copy is explicit that no drivers are required — plug it in and it is immediately ready to use on PC or Mac. There is no analog stick or trigger on this controller at all, by design, which is exactly the point for the genres it targets: a Genesis-era fighting game or platformer plays more accurately and comfortably on a real 6-button digital layout than it does mapped awkwardly onto a modern twin-stick pad. It measures 6.75 x 2.00 x 6.50 inches and weighs 0.5 lb.
