This model is the LaCie Rugged Mini 2TB portable hard drive, the more affordable sibling of the full Rugged range, aimed at anyone who wants tough, reliable backup storage for travel or fieldwork without needing Thunderbolt speed. It keeps the same orange-accented rugged housing and the same headline durability figures as the standard Rugged drive — a 1.2-metre drop rating, resistance to being crushed by up to a 1-ton vehicle, and protection against rain and splashes — so it can be tossed in a backpack or left in a car boot with real confidence. The difference is the interface: the Rugged Mini connects over plain USB 3 Gen 1 (5Gbps) via USB-A rather than Thunderbolt, which keeps the price down while still being fast enough for everyday backup, photo/video transfer and general file storage. At 2TB and a compact 135x86x18.7mm footprint, it's built to disappear into a camera bag. LaCie covers it with a 2-year limited warranty.
