M6-series speakers are designed specifically for boat wake towers and flat-deck/hardtop mounting, where the speaker needs to project sound across open water and withstand constant sun, spray and vibration - a very different design brief from a home or car speaker. JL Audio's DMA-optimised woofer and precisely tuned treated silk-dome tweeter are engineered together to reduce distortion at the high volumes marine and watersports audio systems are typically run at. This particular colourway and grille style is one of several finish options JL Audio offers across the M6-880ETXv3 line, letting a boat owner match the speaker's look to their tower/gunwale hardware finish rather than being limited to one stock appearance. JL Audio also offers optional LED accent lighting kits for the M6 line, letting owners add colour-changing illumination around the grille after the initial installation.
