The Mercusys MS105 is a simple 5-port 10/100 Mbps unmanaged switch. Use it when one network point needs to serve a few devices, for example a TV, decoder, printer and PC behind a single wall port or router. There is no setup: plug in the 5 V power adapter and connect the cables. Every port supports auto-negotiation and auto-MDI/MDIX, so straight and crossover cables both work. It runs at 10/100 Mbps (up to 200 Mbps full duplex), with a 1 Gbps switching capacity, 768 Kb buffer and 802.3x flow control. The white plastic case measures only 82 x 49 x 21 mm, about the size of a bank card, and is fanless and silent. Per-port LEDs show link status. Because it's Fast Ethernet only, choose a Gigabit model such as the MS105G or MS108GS if you move large files between PCs or have a fibre line faster than 100 Mbps.
