The Mercusys MU6H is a dual-band USB Wi-Fi adapter with a long external 5 dBi high-gain antenna. It suits desktop PCs that sit far from the router, in an outbuilding or behind a few brick walls, which is common in South African homes. It connects on 5 GHz 802.11ac at up to 433 Mbps or on 2.4 GHz at up to 200 Mbps. Use the less crowded 5 GHz band for streaming and video calls, and switch to 2.4 GHz when range matters more than speed. The antenna can be angled for the best signal. A status LED shows the link. Security support covers WEP, WPA/WPA2, WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK and 802.1X. It plugs into a standard USB 2.0 port and supports Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7 and XP. The unit measures 57.8 x 16.8 x 173.4 mm with the antenna. In the box you get the MU6H adapter and a quick installation guide. This is an affordable upgrade over a built-in laptop card or a nano adapter when signal strength is the problem.
