The Neumann AC 31 (1.8 m, catalogue number 008703) is a connection cable for the Neumann Miniature Clip Mic (MCM) system, terminating in a 3.5 mm jack for use with wireless bodypack transmitters. The MCM system uses small KK 14 capsules on goosenecks clipped directly to acoustic instruments such as guitars, violins, cellos, brass, woodwind and drums, and the AC 31 carries the signal from the gooseneck to a bodypack so the musician can move freely on stage. Neumann describes the cable as Kevlar-reinforced for maximum strength and high flexibility, which matters on a cable that is constantly flexed and tugged by a moving performer. The KC 1 cable bridge can be used to secure the connection between the cable and the gooseneck; it comes with the gooseneck and is also sold separately. The AC 31 is offered in 0.6 m, 1.8 m and 3.0 m lengths; this listing is the 1.8 m version, a practical length for routing from an instrument to a transmitter on the belt. It is black. Other AC cables (AC 32, AC 33, AC 34) exist for different transmitter connectors, so check your bodypack's input before ordering.
