The Neumann MA 1 is the measurement microphone and alignment system behind Neumann's Automatic Monitor Alignment, used to calibrate Neumann KH-series studio monitors and subwoofers to the room. The individually calibrated, Class I omnidirectional measurement microphone connects to a mic input with 48 V phantom power on your audio interface; the free MA 1 software for Mac and Windows then guides you through measurements at the listening position and calculates corrections for frequency response, time of arrival and level, including effective compensation of room modes. The alignment is stored and processed inside the DSP-enabled monitors themselves (KH 80 DSP, KH 120 II, KH 150, KH 750 DSP, KH 810 II/870 II and others), so no plug-ins or drivers are needed afterwards. Analogue KH 120/310/420 monitors can be included via a network-enabled KH subwoofer. Multichannel setups need the separate Multichannel Extension licence.
