The Neumann MC 4 is the rib clip for double bass in Neumann's Miniature Clip Mic (MCM) system, a modular clip-on instrument microphone range used by orchestras, jazz groups, theatre pits and touring acoustic acts. The MCM system is built from separate parts: a KK 14 capsule head, a gooseneck (SH 100 or SH 150), a cable, an output stage and an instrument-specific clip. The MC 4 is the clip that attaches the capsule and gooseneck to the body of a double bass or similar large string instrument, holding the microphone close to the source for strong, consistent pickup and good separation on a busy stage. It is an alternative to the MC 3 strings clip for double bass, which fastens differently. The MC 4 is sold on its own as a spare or as a way to reconfigure an existing MCM set for bass; the capsule, gooseneck, cable and output stage are not included. It is finished in black like the rest of the system.
