The Neumann MC 7 (catalogue number 008699) is a drum rim clip for the Neumann Miniature Clip Mic (MCM) system. It holds the MCM gooseneck and capsule on the rim of a snare, tom, floor/stand tom or similar percussion instrument, putting a small condenser microphone close to the drum head without a separate microphone stand cluttering the kit. The gooseneck holder rotates and locks in 45 degree increments, so the engineer can set the angle to the drum and then rely on it staying put through a performance. The clip is made in black to stay visually discreet on stage, and weighs only about 10 g, so it does not load or dampen the drum shell. It is aimed at live sound engineers, touring drummers and studios who already use, or are building, an MCM kit with KK 14 capsules and goosenecks; the capsule, gooseneck and cables are sold separately. Neumann offers a whole family of MC clips for different instruments, and the MC 7 is the one specifically for drum rims.
