Nichiban 1200 is a professional gaffer tape from the Japanese tape maker Nichiban, supplied here as a 50mm wide, 25m roll in white. The Type 1200 is one of the best-known gaffer tapes in the stage, rental and broadcast industry. It has a woven, linen-like structure whose threads give it high strength, yet it tears cleanly by hand both across the roll and along its length, which makes it quick to use when taping cables, cutting narrow strips for labelling or marking positions. It is waterproof, has strong adhesion, and is designed to leave no glue residue when removed from floors, staging, flight cases and cable jackets. Typical uses are securing cable runs, bundling looms, fixing set pieces and props, labelling equipment and temporary repairs on stage, in studios and on location. White is favoured for spike marks and for writing labels on cases and cables. The supplier lists this roll as semi-gloss; the 25m length is half the standard 50m roll, convenient for toolkits and gig bags.
