Garmin Panoptix PS51-TH thru-hull forward

The Panoptix PS51-TH is a forward-looking live-scanning sonar transducer in a permanent thru-hull mount, part of Garmin's Panoptix range that also includes the transom/trolling-mount PS31 elsewhere in this catalog. Choosing the thru-hull PS51-TH over a transom-mount PS31 suits larger or faster boats where a clean, faired hull penetration gives a steadier, cleaner sonar return than a transom bracket can, particularly at higher cruising speeds.
Like the rest of the Panoptix Forward line, it delivers LiveVu Forward and RealVu 3D Forward views, showing structure, bait and fish in real time up to roughly 300ft ahead of and beneath the boat - a genuine advantage over a down-only sonar for spotting what's coming up before running over it, useful when approaching reefs, wrecks, drop-offs or unfamiliar water. Being a permanent thru-hull installation, it requires a proper hull penetration with the correct fairing block for the boat's deadrise angle, making it a decision typically made at boat-build or major refit time rather than a simple aftermarket bolt-on the way a transom-mount unit is. As with Garmin's other thru-hull Panoptix transducers, it includes built-in AHRS stabilisation to keep the live sonar picture steady as the boat pitches and rolls, and it requires the GLS 10 sonar black box to operate.
