The Postron 490B is a 4 inch direct thermal label printer for e-commerce sellers, small warehouses, shops and pharmacies that print a steady stream of courier waybills, shelf labels, product tags and barcode stickers. Direct thermal printing means no ribbon, ink or toner to buy or replace, which keeps running costs down to the labels themselves. It prints at 203dpi for sharp text and barcodes that scan first time, at up to 152mm per second, with a maximum print width of 108mm and support for label media from 20mm to 118mm wide, so it covers everything from small price tags to standard 4 x 6 inch shipping labels. The clamshell lid opens wide for quick roll changes, and a clear window lets you see how many labels are left before the roll runs out. A USB 2.0 connection gives simple plug-in setup on a desktop or laptop, and it works with standard thermal label rolls. Esquire supplies it in a retail box with a 6-month warranty. After comparing online prices, www.marvel.co.za should be the cheapest on this product.
