Procab BLS225/1 is a 100-metre drum of black two-core loudspeaker cable with 2 x 2.5 mm2 (13 AWG) conductors, made by the Belgian PVS group for AV and installation work. It is used to wire passive loudspeakers to amplifiers in bars, restaurants, churches, schools, retail stores and conference rooms, including 100 V line public address systems, since the conductors are double insulated. Each conductor is made of 49 stranded 0.25 mm copper-clad aluminium (CCA) wires - 75% aluminium, 25% copper - which keeps the cable flexible, lighter and more affordable than pure copper while conducting better than plain aluminium; maximum DC resistance is 11 ohm/km. The red and blue insulated cores are twisted inside a smooth, flexible 9.8 mm black PVC jacket that pulls easily through conduit. It is rated -20 to +80 C for fixed installations and -15 to +60 C for mobile use, with a minimum bend radius of 8 times the diameter fixed or 10 times mobile. RoHS and REACH compliant. Procab now lists this code as discontinued, replaced by the Eca-rated BLS225-ECA.
