The Radial StageBug SB-1 (part R800 0110 00) is an ultra-compact active direct box designed mainly for acoustic guitar and passive bass, small enough to fit in a guitar case for musicians who travel light. The 1/4-inch instrument input has a thru jack to feed a tuner, pedals or an on-stage amp, while a quiet active buffer converts the high-impedance instrument signal to low impedance and balances it on an XLR output for long cable runs to the PA or recording desk. It is powered entirely by 48 V phantom power from the mixer (5 mA), so no batteries or external supply are needed. Front-panel options include an input pad, 180-degree polarity reverse and ground lift to tackle feedback and hum. Radial specifies a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, over 100 dB dynamic range, -101 dBu equivalent input noise and very low distortion, with an 800k ohm input impedance that suits piezo and passive pickups.
