The Radial StageBug SB-5 Laptop is a compact, passive stereo direct box for connecting a laptop, tablet or smartphone to a mixer or PA system. It has an attached cable ending in a 3.5 mm stereo plug that goes straight into the device's headphone output, so there are no adapters to lose, and the cable wraps around built-in cleats for storage. Inside, a pair of custom-wound transformers isolate and balance the signal to eliminate hum and buzz and allow long cable runs to the desk. Left and right 1/4" TRS outputs are provided for stereo, or the XLR output sums the signal to mono to save a channel on the mixer. A pad switch prevents overload from hot consumer outputs and a ground lift removes ground-loop noise. It needs no power, making it popular with presenters, DJs, churches and bands running backing tracks. The steel unit measures 114 x 47 x 34 mm, weighs 250 g, and carries Radial's transferable 3-year warranty.
