In use, the SmartPump v2 automatically adapts its flow rate from 0 to 2.4 L/min to suit steering cylinders from roughly 4 to 24 cu in, so one pump genuinely covers most boats rather than needing to be sized per hull. Garmin's Shadow Drive technology keeps a human in the loop at all times: turning the wheel by hand instantly disengages the autopilot, no separate button press required. Intelligent Rudder Rate Technology automatically slows rudder movement at speed and speeds it up at low speed for smoother, safer course-keeping. Power draw is under 1 A on standby, roughly 5-10 A while actively steering, with a 34 A peak. The GHC 50 shares data and settings directly with connected Garmin MFDs and other Reactor-compatible instruments.
