At the heart of the corepack is a solid-state 9-axis AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System) course computer, which unlike older fluxgate-compass autopilots can be mounted almost anywhere in the boat rather than needing a fixed, level, magnetically-clean location -- it continuously reacts to sea state to hold a course through pitching and rolling conditions. The bundled GHC 50 instrument has a 5-inch sunlight-readable, edge-to-edge glass touchscreen at 800x480 (WVGA) resolution, and shares data and settings across other Garmin MFDs and instruments on the same network rather than operating as an isolated autopilot head unit. Once connected to a compatible Garmin chartplotter, the system unlocks powerboat features like heading hold and step turns, and -- when a wind sensor is also fitted -- sailing-specific functions like wind hold and automated tack/jibe maneuvers, making this corepack relevant beyond pure powerboat use if the vessel is later rigged for sail-assist functions. Because this is the steer-by-wire variant specifically, it will not work on a boat with hydraulic steering -- that application needs the separate Reactor 40 Hydraulic corepack (typically paired with Garmin's SmartPump) instead.
