The Rycote Duck Raincover 4/5 (part 214101) is a weather cover that drapes over a Rycote blimp-style windshield so a shotgun microphone can keep recording in the rain. It fits Rycote's Modular Windshield Kit sizes 4 and 5 and the Super-Shield Kit in medium and large. The cover is a corrugated roof of open-cell foam with a waterproof inner lining held away from the windshield. Raindrops land on the foam and disperse instead of drumming on the windshield, which greatly reduces rain noise while keeping water off the microphone. Two touch-fastener straps secure it to the windshield. It is a standard accessory for location sound recordists, documentary and news crews, wildlife recordists and anyone doing boom work outdoors in wet weather. The windshield, pistol grip and microphone are not included.
