Sennheiser AMBEO VR Mic 3D Virtual Reality Microphone, Rycote Suspension Mount, 4 XLRs Split Cable

The Sennheiser AMBEO VR Mic (article 507195) is a first-order Ambisonics microphone for recording 360-degree spatial audio from a single point, used for virtual reality and 360 video, immersive sound design, location ambience libraries and 3D audio productions. It uses four matched KE 14 cardioid pre-polarised condenser capsules in a tetrahedral array; the four A-format signals are converted to B-format Ambisonics with Sennheiser's free A-B converter plugin, supplied in VST and AAX formats. Sensitivity is 31 mV/Pa (-30 dBV) and maximum SPL is 130 dB(A) at 1 kHz. The rugged, portable body is 215 mm long with a 49 mm head and 25 mm shaft. As listed, the package includes a Rycote suspension mount, a windshield and a split cable breaking out to four XLR connectors, so it is ready to connect to a four-channel field recorder or interface with phantom power. It suits sound recordists who need to capture the full sound field for later decoding to binaural, surround or head-tracked VR playback.
