The Sennheiser e 604 (article 004519) is a compact dynamic cardioid instrument microphone built mainly for toms, snares and percussion, and it also works well on brass and woodwind. Drummers and live engineers like it because it clips straight onto a drum rim with the supplied clip, and an integral stand mount also lets it screw onto a normal mic stand. It handles very high sound pressure levels (Sennheiser quotes over 160 dB) with a clean, low-distortion signal, while a lightweight voice coil gives extended highs and fast transient response. The reinforced glass-fibre body is tough and suppresses impact and handling noise, and a hum-compensating coil reduces interference. Frequency response is 40 Hz to 18 kHz, sensitivity 1.8 mV/Pa and nominal impedance 350 ohms, with a 3-pin XLR-M output. It measures just 33 mm in diameter by 59 mm long and weighs 60 g. Warranty is two years (ten years in the Americas).
