Sennheiser E 614 Super Cardioid Instrument Microphone

The Sennheiser e 614 (article 009895) is a compact super-cardioid electret condenser microphone for demanding instrument recording and live work where extended frequency response, high SPL handling, fast transient response and a small size all matter. Sennheiser designed it first as a drum-kit overhead, but it is equally at home on percussion, woodwind, strings, acoustic guitar and in home recording, and its medium sensitivity helps keep bleed from neighbouring instruments down on busy stages. Response is nearly flat from 40 Hz to 20 kHz, sensitivity 3.0 mV/Pa, equivalent noise 24 dB(A) and nominal impedance 50 ohms. It needs phantom power (P12 to P48) and connects via a 3-pin XLR. The body is 20 mm in diameter and 100 mm long, weighing about 93 g.
