The Sennheiser EK 100 G4-B (article 509521) is the portable camera receiver of the Evolution Wireless G4 100 series, in the B range of 626 to 668 MHz. It mounts on a video camera and receives from ew 100 G4 bodypack, handheld or plug-on transmitters on the same range, making it a staple for documentary, mobile journalism, event video and other audio-for-video work. It has a lightweight aluminium housing, an adaptive-diversity receiver and a 3.5 mm jack audio output (+12 dBu, mono, unbalanced) to feed the camera. Sennheiser quotes a range of up to 100 m, a signal-to-noise ratio of at least 110 dBA, THD of 0.9 percent or less and an adjustable squelch. It runs on two AA batteries for typically 8 hours, measures about 82 x 64 x 24 mm and weighs 160 g. Sennheiser has since replaced the G4 range with Evolution Wireless Digital (EW-DP), so this is end-of-line stock that suits users expanding an existing G4 system. Sennheiser covers it with a two-year warranty.
