Sennheiser MK 4 Digital, Digital Cardioid Recording Microphone, Condenser Capsule, Swivel Mount
The Sennheiser MK 4 digital is a large-diaphragm studio condenser microphone with a built-in digital interface, designed for musicians, podcasters and journalists who want studio-grade vocal and instrument recordings straight into a laptop or iOS device without a separate audio interface. It pairs a true condenser capsule with a one-inch, 24-carat gold-plated diaphragm with Apogee analogue-to-digital conversion and microphone preamp technology, so the signal is digitised inside the microphone. The capsule is internally shock-mounted to keep handling noise low, and the rugged metal housing is made in Germany. Gain is adjustable from 0 to 50 dB and recording is supported at 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz sampling rates. Typical uses include home and rehearsal-room recording, voice-over and on-location interviews where a compact, all-in-one recording chain is useful. The microphone measures approximately 160 x 57 mm. Note that this is a digital-output model; for connection to a mixer or XLR interface the standard analogue MK 4 is the appropriate choice.
