The Sennheiser MK 4 is a large-diaphragm cardioid studio condenser microphone designed for vocals, voice-over, podcasting and acoustic instruments in home, project and professional studios. It uses a true one-inch (24.4 mm) capsule with a gold-sputtered diaphragm, produced by Sennheiser in Germany, and gives a detailed, natural sound with very low self-noise of just 10 dB(A). The cardioid pattern focuses on the source in front of the microphone while reducing room reflections from the rear. Frequency response spans 20 Hz to 20 kHz, sensitivity is 25 mV/Pa, dynamic range 130 dB, nominal impedance 50 ohms. It requires 48 V phantom power from an audio interface or mixer and connects via a 3-pin XLR cable (not included). The all-metal body measures 160 mm long by 57 mm in diameter and weighs about 485 g.
