The Sennheiser MKE 1-5-3 (article 502169) is the beige, open-ended version of the MKE 1, Sennheiser's smallest professional clip-on lavalier microphone. The beige finish disappears against skin, and the unterminated 3 m cable can be fitted with whatever connector a production's bodypack transmitters require. Its 3.3 mm capsule makes it virtually invisible on a presenter, actor or singer, while a newly developed moisture-resistant protective membrane, protective gauze and multi-purpose cap help it survive sweat and make-up in harsh live conditions. Sennheiser rates it at a maximum sound pressure level of 142 dB, with an omnidirectional pick-up pattern, 20 Hz to 20 kHz response and very high speech intelligibility. The ultra-thin 1 mm, heavy-duty cable has a moulded anti-kink sleeve to keep handling noise down, and flexible tubes allow the mic to be fixed with clips or adhesive tape. It is widely used in musicals, drama, live shows and broadcast studios. Sennheiser covers the microphone with a two-year warranty.
