The Sennheiser MKE 1-ew-3 (article 502879) is the beige version of the MKE 1 lavalier terminated in a locking 3.5 mm jack, so it plugs straight into Sennheiser evolution wireless (ew) bodypack transmitters. The MKE 1 is Sennheiser's smallest professional clip-on microphone, intended for musicals, theatre, live shows, presentations and broadcast. Its 3.3 mm capsule makes it virtually invisible on a presenter, actor or singer, while a newly developed moisture-resistant protective membrane, protective gauze and multi-purpose cap help it survive sweat and make-up in harsh live conditions. Sennheiser rates it at a maximum sound pressure level of 142 dB, with an omnidirectional pick-up pattern, 20 Hz to 20 kHz response and very high speech intelligibility. The ultra-thin 1 mm, heavy-duty cable has a moulded anti-kink sleeve to keep handling noise down, and flexible tubes allow the mic to be fixed with clips or adhesive tape. The ew connector makes it a direct upgrade from the lavaliers bundled with many ew sets. Cable length for the ew version is 1.6 m according to the importer listing. Sennheiser covers the microphone with a two-year warranty.
