The Sennheiser MZH 60-1 (article 003224) is a 'hairy' windshield cover made from long-haired polyester fleece. It is designed to be used together with the Sennheiser MZW 60-1 basket windshield (sold separately), slipping over the basket to provide maximum protection against wind noise when recording outdoors. Typical users are film and TV location sound recordists, documentary crews, nature recordists and ENG/EFP teams using a shotgun microphone inside the MZW 60-1 basket on a boom pole or pistol grip. The long fibres break up wind turbulence before it reaches the basket, reducing low-frequency rumble far more effectively than a basket alone, while having minimal effect on the audio passing through. It is a replacement or add-on part: if you already own the MZW 60-1 system, this cover lets you upgrade to a full 'dead cat' setup or replace a worn fleece. The cover alone weighs roughly 240 g in its packaging. Microphone, basket and boom are not included.
