Sommer Cable SC-Cicada SO-D14 (article 200-0451) is a very thin two-core shielded cable, only 2.6 mm in diameter, sold by the metre from bulk. It was developed as a quality switching line for internal wiring in racks, mixing consoles and audio components, and is now widely used on clip-on and headworn microphones, headphones and speech units. It has two 18-strand 0.14 mm² (AWG 26) conductors in PE insulation under a tight helical copper mesh screen with 95 % coverage, plus a pre-stranded, tin-plated 0.22 mm² drain wire that makes the screen easy to terminate and adds kink protection and tear strength. The black jacket is Sommer's notch-proof, temperature-resistant PUR Master-Blend compound. Capacitance is 65 pF/m between conductors and 120 pF/m to the screen, weight about 15.9 g per metre and the temperature range -30 to +70 °C. Use it where space is tight, such as mini-XLR or 3.5 mm plugs and internal wiring looms.
