Sommer Cable SC-Galileo 238 (200-0251) is a premium balanced microphone cable for studio, stage and broadcast use. Its two 0.38 mm² (AWG 21) oxygen-free copper conductors are embedded in PVC and protected by a dual, counter-wound (reverse stranded) helical copper screen giving 100 % coverage, which gives excellent noise rejection and makes the cable twist-proof and long-lasting. The thicker conductors keep losses low on runs longer than 100 m, and Sommer quotes 50 pF conductor-to-conductor capacitance per metre and 53.9 Ω/km conductor resistance. The black PVC jacket is 7.0 mm in diameter, the cable weighs 60 g per metre and is rated from -25 to +80 °C with CPR class Fca. It is used for microphone and line leads, OB van and radio installations, and even high-end hi-fi interconnects. It terminates into standard XLR and jack connectors.
