Sommer Cable SC-Classic Series MKII (article 600-0401) is an RG58 C/U type 50-ohm coaxial cable, sold by the metre from bulk. Like the rest of Sommer's RG range it follows the American MIL-C-17 standard, and it is the common thin 50-ohm coax used for wireless microphone and in-ear antenna runs, radio and HF equipment, test leads, data transmission and antenna construction in fixed installations. It has a stranded centre conductor of 19 wires (0.48 mm², AWG 20) in PE insulation, a tin-plated copper braid with 92 % coverage and a black PVC jacket of 5.0 mm diameter with an age-resistant compound. Conductor resistance is 37 ohm per km, weight about 38 g per metre and the temperature range -25 to +70 °C. It takes standard RG58 BNC, TNC and N-type crimp connectors, which makes it a straightforward choice for building antenna extension cables for UHF wireless systems. Note it is 50-ohm cable, not suitable for 75-ohm video or SDI.
