The Sonnet Echo SE I T5 (listed by Sonnet as the Echo Express SE I T5, part ECHO-EX-SE1-T5) is a compact desktop Thunderbolt 5 to PCIe card expansion system. It lets laptops and small computers such as a Mac mini, Mac Studio or MacBook Pro use a professional PCIe card they have no slot for, such as a video capture and playback card, audio interface, SAS/SATA or Fibre Channel host adapter, 10/25Gb Ethernet card or RAID controller (GPUs are not supported). It houses one full-height, single-width x8 PCIe card up to 7.75 inches long in an x16 mechanical, PCIe 4.0 slot, with space alongside for a daughter card, and a 6-pin auxiliary power connector for cards that need extra power, such as the AJA Kona 5 or Blackmagic DeckLink 8K Pro G2. Over Thunderbolt 5 it delivers up to 6,800 MB/s of PCIe bandwidth to the card, around twice Thunderbolt 4. It works with Macs with Thunderbolt 5/4/3 or USB4 ports (macOS 15+), and Windows 11 or Linux (kernel 6.6+) machines with Thunderbolt 5/4 or USB4. Two Thunderbolt ports allow daisy-chaining. The box includes a 60W universal power adapter, power cable, 6-pin aux cable, 0.8 m Thunderbolt 5 cable and ThunderLok-A lock. It measures 8.5 x 28.3 x 14.6 cm, weighs 1.13 kg, and carries a 2-year warranty.
